Business and Work Credentials

Primarily I am trained in and make a living from freelance writing and editing.

However, a large part of what I do involves the promotion and marketing of entrepreneurs and SMMEs, specifically those that offer unique services and products, including arts/crafts people, speciality and fresh food producers, and holistic, lifestyle and complementary health practitioners.

To this end, the areas of work that I specialise in are:

  • the publishing of niche articles and publications (printed and electronic)
  • the setting up and/or running of markets, exhibitions and special events
  • consulting for venues, outlets and organisations wishing to incorporate market traders into their activities
  • consulting work to individuals/businesses needing better exposure
  • producing PR, advertising and IT material to assist individuals/businesses achieve greater exposure
  • organising and co-ordinating expo’s/workshops/lectures etc
  • keeping track of global lifestyle and technology trends so as to offer a comprehensive, cutting-edge service

My main objectives are to:

  • Initiate and provide better, more efficient, credible and commercially viable outlets for specifically (but not exclusively) the arts/crafts, lifestyle and holistic market to expand.
  • Provide the public with a wider range of options for living healthier, more authentic, fulfilled and enjoyable lives.

  • Browse Markets, Festivals & Exhibitions Directory (a printed and electronic directory listing markets, festivals & exhibitions throughout South Africa – in development phase since January 2009)
  • The monthly Holistic Lifestyle Fair in Observatory (in operation since June 1997)
  • The Fresh etc Market in Kalk Bay (in operation since November 2008)
  • The Creative Living Expo held four times at Artscape Theatre (2000)
  • A monthly market at Oude Molen Village in Pinelands (2002)
  • The South African tour of Australian Feng Shui expert and macrobiotic teacher, Roger Green (2000)
  • The Soulgarden Bookshop and Esoteric Emporium in Muizenberg (2005-2006)
  • The Noordhoek Farm Village Craft Market (2005-2006)
  • The Bayside Bazaar Market in Fish Hoek (2002-2005

Co-operative projects:

  • The River Club Open Day, in association with the Reach for a Dream Foundation and the Sports Science Institute, amongst others (12 march 2010)
  • The Vintage & Collectibles Fair at the Old Biscuit Mill, Woodstock (January-Feb 2010)
  • The 2010 Home Improvers’ Expo (Good Hope Centre, postponed from March 2010)
  • The Muizenberg Community Festival (March 2008 & 2010 TBC)
